Because it usually isn't local. A crack that reopens after being filled is telling you the ground underneath has moved and is still moving — the concrete is just where the movement became visible. Fill it and you have covered up the signal, not the cause. We have seen what a patch looks like after two Florida summers, and it looks like the same crack plus a scar. Augusto looks at what the ground is actually doing — drainage, grade, root pressure, what the failure pattern is telling us — and the base is rebuilt for those conditions rather than to a generic depth. Then the pavers go down, and if a section is ever damaged in the future, that section can be lifted and replaced without touching the rest. That last part is the real argument for pavers on a house you intend to stay in.
